Nominet, the Domain Name Registry in the UK, is to roll out multi-year registration periods for .CO.UK domain names. This means that from 01 May 2012, if you register or renew a .CO.UK domain through Netcetera, you will have the option to extend the registration for up to a maximum of 10 years.
Until now it has only been possible to register a .CO.UK domain for a two year period. The change will give customers and businesses the opportunity to lock in their domains for up to 10 years, giving them security of ownership and a longer period between renewals.
Renewing your domain is perhaps one of the most important points to remember, since if you don’t, anyone else can register it, and they can do it within seconds of it being made available. As soon as this happens, they can receive all your hard earned website traffic, search engine rankings etc that have become associated with your domain name. Having your domain name registered for a longer term, means you have one less thing to worry about.
Your domain name is valuable – make sure you look after it,
register it for up to 10 years and have peace of mind.
