The winner this year from the private sector for the Best Practice award was Netcetera. This is an excellent example of a sustainable business that provides its clients with a 100% carbon neutral data centre.

The data centre has incorporated energy efficiency improvements and is powered by green renewable energy provided by Manx Utilities from the hydro power plant at Sulby.”

This will, in turn, help our customers become greener too.”

Netcetera Have Teamed Up with Bugscore 360

Netcetera are delighted to announce that we have teamed up
with Bugscore 360, a web-based software that allows your company’s employees to score each other in real-time.

What is a 360 Review?

If you have a team (small or massive) and you want to optimize and monitor their performance and see how they compare, you would conduct a 360 review. This full circle, 360 review provides feedback from peers, superiors, subordinates, customers and suppliers and helps the employee and management better understand their strengths and weaknesses: Great for coaching employees toward better performance, determining bonuses and promotions.

Problem

Most 360 review systems use surveys that take too long, or they are qualitative and hard to tally, and there is no real-time feedback (helps your organization “self-correct”).  Until now…

Introducing

NetceteraBugscore 360, The World’s First Real-Time 360 Review Scoring System. Bugscore 360 is brought to you by the same group that produced Bugscore, the world’s #1 scoring application used to score over 37,000 businesses, 2,423 companies, 92,360 products by over 400,000 people.

Reasons to Buy

There are FIVE main reasons to consider Bugscore 360:

  • Quick to complete, real-time or scheduled (90% quicker to complete which means you can use it more frequently)
  • Produces qualitative and quantitative results (world’s ONLY real-time scoring)
  • Provides direct and frequent real-time feedback (see scores in seconds)
  • Easy to monitor over time – track improvements (big data insights others cannot show)
  • Can change culture and increase performance

There’s a lot more, but watch the short but exciting video to see how to do a 360 review with Bugscore 360.

Pricing

Bugscore 360 cost from $1.00 to $5.00 per month per employee for 360 reviews any time, dramatically less than alternatives.

Google now boosting the ranking of SSL Sites

Google have just announced it will boost the ranking of sites that use secure and encrypted connections. This is part of Google’s efforts to push “HTTPS everywhere” on the web.

https

What is HTTPS?

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is a communications protocol used on the Internet that has a layer of security added. It is a combination of the standard HTTP protocol, and a security protocol called SSL/TLS.

HTTPS is important because standard HTTP sends data over the Internet in plain text making it easy to intercept. The added security layer with HTTPS encrypts information traveling over the internet to prevent wire tapping, stolen credit card numbers, and other interceptions.

What is a SSL Certificate?

SSL is the acronym for Secure Sockets Layer and is the Internet standard security technology used to establish an encrypted (or safe) link between a web server (website) and your browser (i.e. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc…). This secured link ensures that the data/information that is passed from your web browser to the web server remain private; meaning safe from hackers or anyone trying to spy/steal that info.

SSL is the industry standard and is used by millions of websites to protect and secure any sensitive or private data that is sent through their website. One of the most common things SSL is used for is protecting a customer during an online transaction.

To establish a secured SSL connection on a web server it requires an SSL Certificate to be properly installed. When completing the process to activate SSL on your web server you will be asked to complete a number of questions to verify the identity of your domain and your company. Once properly completed, your web server will create 2 types of cryptographic keys – one is called a Private Key and the other is called the Public Key.

Are all SSL Certificates the Same?

The number of businesses that use SSL have increased tremendously over the past few years and the reasons for which SSL is used has also increased, for example:

Some businesses need SSL to simply provide confidentiality (i.e. encryption). Some businesses like to use SSL to add more trust or confidence in security and identity (they want you to know that they are a legitimate company and can prove it).

As the reasons companies use for SSL have become wider, three different types of SSL Certificates have been established:

  • Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates
  • Organization Validation (OV) SSL Certificates
  • Domain Validation (DV) SSL Certificates

Netcetera offers SSL Certificates from as little as £14.95/pa.

Netcetera ranked as the Most Reliable Windows Hosting Company Worldwide for June 2014

We are very proud to announce that Netcetera is yet again the Most Reliable Windows Hosting Company and 2nd Worldwide, as ranked by Netcraft.

This is a fantastic achievement for Netcetera as the ranking is measured against the world’s top Hosting companies!

Netcraft commented “Netcetera came second in June, also with only two failed requests, giving it the most reliable Windows-based hosting company site. Netcetera has been in the hosting business since 1996 and offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee, although in practice its site actually reached 99.99% uptime over the past year and 99.96% over nine years.

From a customer’s perspective, the percentage of failed requests is very important and for this reason to give a clear indication of reliability of routing, the ranking is measured by a table of fewest failed requests, rather than periods of outage.

Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of approximately forty leading Hosting providers sites. The performance measurements are calculated at fifteen minute intervals from different points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.

Netcetera was formed in 1996 and today is one of Europe’s leading Web Hosting service providers, offering a full range of products, from a basic hosting service catering to individuals who need to host a single website, to large companies who require more complicated setups using, for example, our latest Managed Windows Cloud Server, a Cloud Server or a Dedicated Server. Whatever your Hosting requirements, our range of Managed hosting options will provide you with a solution, and our UK based Hosting packages can help create a professional backbone for your online business.

Protect your brand with a new .UK

Registrations of .UK domain names are open to anyone. However, in most instances, if you already own a .CO.UK, the equivalent .UK domain will be reserved for you.
